We are always reminded of that terrible day 10 years ago, when terrorist boarded four different planes and crashed into some of the most iconic buildings in America. It took many lives and lives of those who had loved ones waiting for them at home.
Today as we remember those who were stranded in the World Trade Center, and the first responders who were killed trying to save lives, we see how lucky we are to still be able to remember that day 10 years ago.
The 9/11 memorial that will replace the original site of the World Trade Center will soon be completed. Featuring over 3,000 names of victims of that devastating day and water falls in the middle. The squared pool both north and south are sourrounded by names of those who were killed 10 years ago this day.
At first glance these names may seem to be a combination of names put in random order. Many years were spent, in fact, to collect data from the families of victims in order to group these names in a special combination. The names of these victims were put together based each of their personal relationships. From the firefighters, to the airplane crew, from the office workers on the same floor, to the passenger's seats on the planes. Each of these groups of names are put together in a way that is thoughtful, at least for the victims.
The website is intricately designed to feature as much information as possible about the victims. It shows their location on the plaque and some personal information about the person.
You can see the layout of the plaques here, at the 9/11 memorial website.
